February 26, 2011

Wellington, , New Zealand

An evening of world class athletics (feat. Olympic Silver Medalist Nick Willis, US #1 Miler Alan Webb, Britain's Lee Emanuel, sub-4 milers Will Leer & Brandon Bethke + more) to raise funds for The Salvation Army's Christchurch earthquake appeal. PLUS the Medal Ceremony for Nick Willis' olympic silver!

After the tragic events of Tuesday's earthquake, the International Track Meet in Chch (scheduled for this Saturday with one of the best line ups of international and NZ athletes seen in NZ for decades) has been cancelled/postponed. With many of the international athletes already in Wellington the thought was, "hey, we're all trained up and ready to race, so why not give something back and do what we do best (run... real fast) as a fundraiser and a show of support for the people of Christchurch!"

So the details are:
TRACK MEET 4 CHRISTCHURCH
Sat. 26th February 5-6:30pm @ Newtown Park, Wgtn
Entry is FREE! And donations will be accepted for The Salvation Army's earthquake appeal
Also includes Medal Ceremony for Nick Willis' olympic silver

Come on Wellington, let's pack out Newtown Park and show our support for Christchurch. It's an incredible line up of athletes and a great cause.

-----

Donations:

We ask people consider making a donation to one of the above three causes. Any contribution no matter what the value is greatly appreciated.

At this point in time, although not all of us may be in a position to offer it; financial support is required the most. New Zealanders have actually overwhelmed various charities with food & material donations that we ask you to consider giving money first and foremost. This allows the organisations to help Christchurch more efficiently.
