INSPIRATION IN THE PACK - Published 12/19/07

Watch Runner's World Editor in Chief David Willey as he interviews seven noteworthy participants during the 2007 ING New York City Marathon.

Tim Borland, running 63rd marathon in 63 days

That's not a typo: Borland really did run 63 marathons in 63 days, culminating in the 2007 New York Marathon. Compulsive? Maybe. But it was for a good cause. Borland ran to raise awareness of ataxia-telangiectasia -- a rare, incurable, genetic disease affecting children that causes loss of muscle control. Borland quit his day job to pursue his 63-marathon quest, aiming to raise $2 million for the cause.
