By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor

Tevin Williams of Stillwater and Jada Atkinson of Southmoore showed record-breaking speed at the OSSAA 6A Track and Field Championships on May 15 at Edmond Santa Fe High.

Williams, a standout two-sport athlete who has signed to play football at Baylor University, ran a wind-aided 10.20 to win the 100 meters final (+4.6). That's an all-conditions state best.

He also won the 200 meters with 20.92w.

Atkinson won both sprints with wind-aided times of 11.38 (+3.5) and 23.76. Her 100 time is an all-conditions state best.

The Jenks girls 4x800 relay team of Tarryn Lowry, Avery Mazzei, Sophie Simmons and Deborah Mazzei ran a state meet record 9:18.32 as part of a team championship effort.

The Mazzei sisters, Deborah and Avery, went 1-2 in the 800 meters. Avery also won the 1,600 meters.

Westmoore won the boys team title and got big points from Kevion Williams (48.62) and Ja Quan Richardson (49.32) going 1-2 in the 400 meters. Those two were part of a meet record in the 4x200 as Westmoore ran 1:25.42.

Tulsa Union broke the all-time Oklahoma record in the boys 4x100 relay with 40.75 secons. Jayden Rowe, A.J. Green, Hayden Brockett and Dayan Aromaye snapped a 38-year-old record held by Norman High.

Meanwhile, the Midwest City girls (Grace Pendarvis, Taniya Looney, Imani Osborn and Deyunsha Westbrook) ran an all-time state best of 1:38. Midwest City also won the 4x100 (47.09).

Gabe Simonsen of Mustang, who earlier in the season broke the all-time state record in the 3,200 meters (8:56.07), won the 6A titles in the 1,600 (4:24.89) and 3,200 (9:34.53).

Cayden Dawson of Bixby won the 3,200 meters in 10:57.91.

Kyla Davis of Yukon jumped 13-0 to win the girls pole vault and broke the meet record.

Trinity Picklo from Mustang swept the girls hurdles finals. Rachel Neaves of Deer Creek swept the shot put and discus.

Ansley Scott (55.94) and Kaitlyn Byrd (56.99) of Moore went 1-2 in the girls 400.

The girls 5A meet went down to the wire. Bishop McGuinness Catholic won the 4x400 relay, which is worth 20 points in Oklahoma. But Ardmore got sixth place for six points and held on for a 95 to 92.5 advantage on its home track.

Sophomore Andrew Hughes of Ada got a surprise upset over senior Gabe Grim of Bishop McGuinness Catholic in the high jump. Hughes cleared a personal best 6-8. Grim topped out at 6-6 after going 6-10 at the regional.

Ardmore also won the boys title with 91 points.

Madi Surber of 4A Tuttle, the top female hurdler in the state, ran 14.11 while buffeted by a +6.6 tailwind. She also won the 300 hurdles by nearly four seconds, in 44.52. Earlier in the season the junior ran an all-time state record 42.75 in the 300-meter hurdles.

Surber also won the 400 in 55.71.

However, Weatherford got wins from freshman Lilly Ray in the 200, Kennadi Price in the 1,600 and won the 4x200 and 4x800 -- and beat Tuttle by two points, 121 to 119.

Ally Stephenson of Kingfisher jumped a state-leading 5-8 to win the high jump. She was also second in the 400 meters and second in the long jump.

Lincoln Christian won the boys 4A title with 119 points. Kolbe Katsis won the 100 (10.81w) and Josiah Antis competed a 400-800 double for the Bulldogs.

Owen Ostroski from Holland Hall threw a state-leading mark in the discus with 180-6.
