Makeriah Harris, Sade Gray Lift Scotlandville To 5A Girls Title; Winston DeCuir, Louis Rudge Drive Catholic (BR) Victory; Jack Larriviere Throws US#1 Javelin Mark

Makeriah Harris, ranked in the top six nationally in both hurdles events, helped power Scotlandville to the Class 5A girls team victory at the Louisiana state championships in Baton Rouge. 

Harris, a sophomore, ran 13.92 to win the 100-meter hurdles, 42.93 to take the 300 hurdles, took fifth in the 200 meters, and ran on the winning 4x400 relay (3:52.03) as the Hornets racked up 86 points. Whitney Harris,  a senior, also scored in both hurdles events.

Teammate Sade Gray won the 200 (23.86), took second in the 100 behind Dutchtown's Ariane Linton (11.79 to 11.83) and was on the winning 4x100 and 4x200 relays. 

The combination of Winston DeCuir and Louis Rudge carried Catholic (Baton Rouge) to the boys 5A title. DeCuir won the 800 meters in 1:54.97 and took second in the 400 (48.42). Rudge won the 300 hurdles in 37.39 and also took second in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.38. Both of them were part of the winning 4x400 relay (3:17.98). 

Catholic also won the 4x800 in 7:52.36.

Sophomore Krosse Johnson of Holy Cross ran the fastest sprint times in the meet and won the 5A 100 meters in 10.54w and the 200 in 21.07. 

Jack Larriviere of Jesuit launched a US#1 throw in the boys javelin to win the 5A title, going 228-10 for a nearly nine-foot PR. Jordan Monroe of Eunice won the 4A title with US#9 198-11. 

Ruston star Brandon Green won 5A state titles in the long jump (24-2.25) and triple jump (49-1). He's the national leader in the triple jump. 

Jesuit sophomore Michael Vocke won the 5A 1,600 in 4:20.28. 

Bryanna Craig of Ruston, won of the country's top multi athletes, won the 5A high jump with 5-8. She was also fifth in the 100 hurdles (14.61), fourth in the long jump (18-6) and ran on the second-place 4x100 relay.
