Junior Olivia Womack of Clinton and freshman Kennedi Sanders of Madison Central waged two extremely close races in the 6A girls sprint finals at the Mississippi state championship meet at the Woody Barrett Track and Field Complex. Womack won the 100 meters, 11.93 seconds to 11.97. Sanders came back to win the 200, 23.98 to 24.01.

Womack also powered the Clinton 4x100 relay to victory in 46.92 as the team won the Class 6A girls team championship.

Santoria Harris of Terry won the 6A irls 400 meters in 55.35 seconds, reclaiming the race she won as a freshman and sophomore before taking second last year (with her fastest time, 55.10). She also helped her team win the 4x400 relay.

Cameron O'Neal of Biloxi won the 6A long jump with 24-2.50.

Jason Collier (pole vault), Niquez Wade (discus), Patrick Spurgeon (1,600 meters) and David Adams (3,200 meters) all won 6A events to help Pearl capture the boys team title.

Brooklyn Biancamano may only be at freshman at Long Beach, but she already has seven state track titles. Because middle schoolers can play up in Mississippi, Biancamano started making her impact felt on the 5A level as a seventh grader.

She tripled for the second year in a row, winning the 800 (2:14.86), the 1,600 (4:54.58) and the 3,200 meters (11:30.83).

Senior teammate Destini Pickens contributed to the Long Beach's title run with victories in the 200 meters (25.32) and 400 meters (57.22).

Keirston Paige of Hattiesburg dominated the 5A hurdles races, winning the 110-meter highs in 13.89 seconds and the 300-meter intermediates in 39.12. Hattiesburg also won the 4x200 (1:29.32) on the way to the 5A crown.

Winona's Krystle Hughes won the 3A 200 (25.21) and 400 (57.90). Freshman Jeremiah Dillon sped to a sprint double in 3A, with 10.78w in the 100 meters and 22.11 in the 200.

Brock Kelly of Tupleo Christian won Class 1A titles in the 1,600 (4:28.88) and 800 (2:01.14).
