ARKANSAS STATE MEET

Isaiah Sategna Makes Final Statement At Arkansas State Track Championships, Leads Fayetteville To Third Straight Title

By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor

Isaiah Sategna, blessed with superstar track and field genetics, plans to go on to a football career at the University of Arkansas.

But the Fayetteville senior made sure his name is connected to track and field forever at the Arkansas state meet as he helped his school win its third straight Class 6A team championship.

Sategna, the son of former Texas and Arkansas coach Mario Sategna (a former U.S. decathlon champion) and Olympian Dahlia Duhaney of Jamaica, broke the state meet record in the long jump with 24-8, swept the hurdles events and also tied for first place in the 100 meters.

Fayetteville got additonal firepower from thrower Brok Young, who won the shot put, and Hudson Betts, who won the 3,200 and placed second in the 1,600. Cooper Williams won the high jump with 6-10.

The Fayetteville girls were even more dominant than the boys, amassing 191.5 points.  The team got big points in the hurdles events, with four finalists in both the 100- and 300-meter events. Hannah Estes won the 100 hurdles with 14.77 and Kessiah Bemis won the 300 hurdles in 45.22. Estes also won the pole vault.

Grace Lueders of Rogers won the 6A girls 400 in 56.92.

El Dorado swept the Class 5A team titles.

De'Andra Burns Jr. ran 11.09 into a headwind to win the 5A 100 meters and also placed third in the 200 and second in the 400 (49.01). The 400 final was very close, with Beebe's Adrian Carranco taking the win in 49.00. Burns also won the long jump with 23-0.50.

Carranco also won the triple jump with 48-1.25.

Carshaila Rozier of El Dorado won the 100 in 12.46 seconds and took second in the 200 in 26.15. She also ran on the winning 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams and won the triple jump with 39-2.25 and the long jump with 18-9.

Keniyah Bryant of Arkansas HS won the 400 in 58.60 and also edged Rozier to win the 200 in 26.14.

Anna Woolsey of Ozark ran a state-leading time of 12.31 seconds to win the 4A girls 100.

I remember his dad's state meet like it was yesterday. Hurdles, jumps, vault. Windy, especially for the 300IH and the vault.
