EUGENE -- The University of Oregon will host its first track & field Town Hall Meeting of the new year Wednesday when it previews the Ducks’ upcoming indoor season as well as aspects of this summer’s 2008 Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field.

The informational meeting will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Bonus Room of the university’s Student Recreation Center near the corner of University and 15th Street.

On hand will be Oregon Associate Director of Track & Field Dan Steele, who will discuss the program’s indoor season, which gets underway with the Dempsey Indoor Preview Jan. 18 and 19 in Seattle.

In addition, the Ducks’ distance coach Maurica Powell and Kris Redmond, Eugene ’08 local organizing committee volunteer coordinator, will provide an update regarding the volunteer process for community members desiring to work during the Olympic Trials June 27 – July 6 at Hayward Field.

The public also will have a chance to meet with Pacific-10 Conference championships decathlete runner-up Ashton Eaton, as well as freshman pole vaulter Melissa Gergel.

Admission to the Town Hall meeting is free of charge.
